The hotel's exteriors feverishly recall Las Vegas' 1970s heyday. Once the champion of the Strip, the fluorescent-pink Flamingo is no longer the standard-bearer for over-the-top Las Vegas largesse, but still draws hordes of young partiers and couples. Thompson's city-defining gonzo opus "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," and both the 1960 and the 2001 versions of "Ocean's Eleven" were filmed on-site. Rooms also come equipped with flat screen plasma televisions (32″).īook now at vegas.Opened in 1946 by mobbed-up bootlegger and Genovese crime family associate Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, the Flamingo Las Vegas is one of the oldest resorts on the Strip and, as such, boasts a rich history. Modern decorative elements include signature Flamingo pink accents and wood toned furnishings for added warmth. The Flamingo has recently transformed the standard rooms into something more modern and fabulous. The Flamingo’s northern entrance is connected to The Linq, one of the newest things to do in Las Vegas that includes an outdoor entertainment, dining and shopping district that is also home to the famous High Roller observation wheel. The Garden Chapel is also home to many charming weddings. In search of pampering or a good workout? The Spa at the Flamingo provides impressive facilities to cater to your needs. There’s also a massive sports book to reward those who can tell the future. The enormous casino offers countless table games, over 1,600 slot machines, and a poker room to die for. The Mexican restaurant/bar Carlos N Charlie’s also offers visitors with a rollicking good time. Grab a cocktail at the lobby bar or Bugsy’s Bar. The Margaritaville Casino offers hours of enjoyment, with 220 slot machines and 22 gaming tables. ![]() Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville lets you keep the party going all night long, with Caribbean themed entertainment, a menu chock full of island favorites and a cast of quality entertainers. Those in need of a quick bite can head to the food court and Tropical Breeze Cafe. The Center Cut Steakhouse includes favorites like the 20 ounce rib eye and 24 ounce porterhouse. The Paradise Garden Buffet offers delicious meals in a lovely setting, looking like something out of a picturesque wildlife habitat. This resort caters to a wide range of restaurants from Italian to American to Japanese cuisines. There are plentiful shows to suit every age group as well, including musical performances from brother and sister act Donny and Marie Osmond and Olivia Newton-John continues to appear in her “Summer Nights” residency that runs on certain dates. Jeff Civillico provides audiences with his wacky juggling/comedy stylings in the afternoon hours. “X Burlesque” and their lovely ladies provide an adult show during the late evenings. There’s also the party atmosphere of the Go Pool, which makes the Flamingo seem like far less of a casino and more of a full fledged resort.īut the water attractions and animals aren’t the only Flamingo entertainment worth checking out, as a number of noteworthy human beings refer to the resort as their home as well. There are a number of swimming pools available, including the breathtaking main pool with its beautiful seasonal water slide. The lush gardens that are located behind the room towers appear to be entirely removed from Las Vegas, with its Chilean flamingos (pink of course), swans, ducks, koi fish and turtles that can be found frolicking in the Flamingo’s ponds and underneath its lush three story waterfalls. Famed gangster “Bugsy” Siegel’s original Flamingo might be long gone after being torn down in 1993, but the hotel that now bears its name continues to live up to its lofty title. The Flamingo is considered to be a direct descendant of the genesis of modern Las Vegas. Thanks to its utterly brilliant orange and pink facade, the Flamingo hotel and casino is every bit as colorful as the structure’s history.
